question from a new mother to be for mothers already with children?
i am expecting my first baby (its a boy!) in september, and am having some difficulty knowing just what to purchase.
after the baby grows a little bigger he will have to be switched to a full crib, but what about when he is still an infant…
i am having trouble deciding between these two nursery sleep itmes…
a 5-in-1 bassinet:
this item turns into a changing table, play seat, portable bassinet, full sized bassinet, and a bed side sleeper
or
a pack-n-play set:
this item turns into a full size bassinet, a changing table, and a playpen for when the baby gets older
(i will probably end up having both, and keeping one set at my mothers for when i return to work)
have any of you mothers used any of these items or similar one? and what did you like or dislike about them?

I had both and preferred the pack-n-play. It is very versatile, easily portable (which is great for just about anywhere!), it could be used as a bassinet when the baby was smaller, and once she was big enough to pull herself up at all I moved her to the regular position of the pack-n-play. In my experience, an actual bassinet, while it probably looks a bit nicer than the pack-n-play, wasn’t quite as convenient, and was a bit ungainly. Although, I did always have with me when my daughter was younger, a portable bassinet, which could be set to be stationary or to rock, it had a screen cover that zipped to keep bugs away if you were outside, it also had a sunshade as part of the zipped part in case of sun, etc. I really really got a lot of use out of this! So maybe invest in a pack-n-play, and a portable bassinet! Oh, and also, with the portable bassinet, if I was moving around the house cleaning or something, it was very easy to take the baby with me while she was sleeping just to keep her near, it was lightweight and very portable!
